The Thornleigh Veterinary Hospital has successfully operated for 7 days a week for 40 years and is licensed for all types of major surgery on small animals. It has been the centre for veterinary care and boarding to Thornleigh, Westleigh, Normanhurst and Waitara. Currently Ku-Ring-Gai Council uses the facility as its official animal shelter.

In 1973, Dr Meany purchased the Thornleigh Veterinary Clinic, which occupied a small part of a residence, where the current Caltex service station stands. This site soon became too small as business expanded.
